Directions: In this unit you will develop an understanding of the Bill of Rights and and create a modern set of rights that you believe would best represent citizens living today.
- Create a document called bill_of_rights.doc.
- Save the file in the social studies folder.
- Link the bill_of_rights.doc to the social studies homepage.

- In one paragraph describe the Bill of Rights.
- Now, visit http://archives.gov/exhibits/charters/bill_of_rights_transcript.html and write each of the 10 amendments in your own words on the bill_of_rights.doc.
- The final step of this assignment will be think about the true meaning of the document that was written well over 200 years ago. If you were given the job of updating the ten amendments to represent citizens living in the US today, what would the ten amendments say.
- Create a list of updated amendments and add them to the bill_of_rights.doc.
